If I delete a message from my Thunderbird inbox on my PC, it is deleted correctly on the PC and on my iPhone.

Any ideas why moving a message to a local folder is acting up suddenly!

I need to move around 9,000 emails from a business Google workspace email to a personal Gmail account. I successfully exported all 9,000 emails to a Mbox file. I added the new Gmail account I want to move the emails to and the exported file to Thunderbird and it shows over 20,000 emails in Thunderbox (even though there should only be around 9,000). I have tried moving the email file to the new email account within Thunderbird twice now. Both times it shows like it is moving the 20,000 emails but when it finishes it only moves around 1,200 emails. How do I get it to import all 9,000 of the emails that are in the exported file?

Background - my old (selfhosted IMAP) server died, I was able to recover the Maildir but for whatever reasons both dovecot and courier ignore the "message read" metadata embedded in the filenames so the local copy in Thunderbird is suddenly the most authoritative.

But every time I try to bulk copy from the old account to local folders or to my new server it fails because it tries to contact the dead server.

Looking for ways to attack this problem

I recently clicked a like on a reply to one of my questions on this help forum and then somehow I also clicked on dislike as I was scrolling through the reply so I clicked the dislike again thinking this would remove the dislike but instead it added another dislike to the person who replied to my question I did not think is was possible to add mulitple likes and dislikes to the same person but it appears this is what I have done is it possible to remove the likes and dislikes you have added and if so how do you go about removing them. Overnight Thunderbird has developed a major problem. The count for the number of mails in a folder is correct, as best I can tell, but when I open the folder it is either empty or has fewer mails than the count. Based on several tests, repairing sometimes adds more mails, sometimes not, but never the entire folder.

I repaired the inbox and it is now showing several mails that I deleted in the last few days (by emptying the delete folder having previously deleted them). Curiously, they’re all the same type, routine mailings about road works.

I may have backup in that I copy the entire Thunderbird folder to an external drive every morning, including today, and to Google Drive every Wednesday.

Please can you help.

I Iooked it up to see how to fix it and they say to remove the "lightning" add on. When I go under tools and look for this add on, it is not there. In fact it doesn't seem that I have any add-ons. My thunderbird seems to only index my sent folders since a while

I am using Thunderbird 128.7.1 on Windows, have several mailboxes (POP and Imap) with many sub-folders and large email archives (~20 years of emails) under "Local Folders… (daɗa karatu)

I am using Thunderbird 128.7.1 on Windows, have several mailboxes (POP and Imap) with many sub-folders and large email archives (~20 years of emails) under "Local Folders". Indexing used to work fine over all those folders and I liked it a lot, in particular the timeline view on global searches.

Now, since a while (not sure for how long) indexing only looks into all my "Sent" folders, and not any of the incoming folders or local folders. I see that in all the global searches I try now. Note, whenever I archive a large amount of emails, I delete global-messages-db.sqlite and re-start TB to make sure the index gets re-built to match the real folder content. Previously global-messages-db.sqlite had a few GB in size, not it does not get larger than ~100MB.

How can I tell TB to index all folders as it used to do?

Under Security Devices, there is no Security Device that provides this functionality so in Security Devices I click Load and Browse... and select /Applications/Thunderbird.app/Contents/MacOS/libosclientcerts.dylib to add the appropriate security device. However, when I click okay, I get "Alert" "Unable to add module" . What am I doing wrong?

I also use libosclientcerts.dylib in Firefox just fine. Why is it not working in Thunderbird?

I right click onto a subfolder, and pick Properties, then go into Synchronization. I click onto a checkbox for "Select this folder for offline use" and I hit OK to close the window. Nothing happens. I go back, and the checkbox is not checked. I tried hitting the Download Now buttons, nothing happened.

Any clue why my check box selection is not accepted?

When I used Outlook, I set it up to use OST, so I have a copy of my email that is on the remote Exchange server. Now I am trying to do the same with Thunderbird.

Quick Filter button indicator not working properly

I’ve got a minor but annoying Quick Filter button issue which just cropped up today out of nowhere, and haven’t been able to find an exact match for all these symptoms in… (daɗa karatu)

I’ve got a minor but annoying Quick Filter button issue which just cropped up today out of nowhere, and haven’t been able to find an exact match for all these symptoms in any other problem reports.

Toggling my Quick Filter button works as expected, picking up the individual active filter buttons. However, in some instances of launching TB its on/off status indicator always displays as active regardless of individual filter button status. Weirder still, in other cases it always displays as inactive. It’s an intermittent problem, which always persists in one way or the other.

Further details:

- Problem is also present in safe mode, with the single plugin I use (CardBook) disabled.

- General display settings are “Theme Simple” and “Variant Normal” (not “Dark”).

- There are no automatic filters configured in “Tools > Message Filters”.

- Individual filter buttons are all working properly, including correct status indicators.

- Running current TB version (128.7.0esr 64-bit) on Windows 10 with all OS patches up to date.

An example:

Image 1: “Show only unread messages” button is active, and the Quick Filter button also displays as such (both indicators are correct).

Image 2: All individual filter buttons are inactive, yet the Quick Filter button still indicates a filter is active.

I’m stumped, thanks in advance for any help!

New tasks not saving when a start / end date is added

I run Thunderbird 115.18.0 (64-bit) with calendar and tasks connected to a NextBase Caldav account on the web. The Caldav then syncs with my Android phone using DAVx.

When I try to add a new task but without adding start and end dates it will initially appear to save and show in the tasks list. However this is lost following a Thunderbird restart. NB the task view is set to "All"

If I either edit the task to add start and end dates the task disappears from the task list. Similarly if I create a task with start and end dates the task does not save.

This issue only seems to have started recently as I have been using this process for a while without issues.

Is there a way to fix this?

I know, from accessing through aol that there were many messages that are completely missing. In addition, several important emails from different dates in Feb are also missing although because they were sent to multiple others, i received notice of them. Why is this happening. I have an issue where the "Date" and "Received" columns (in my Inbox) always show the same exact date/time even when the message source shows a different date/time for the "Date:" header verses the "Received:" header.

I know this has been asked before, but the suggestion of adding "Received" (without the quotes) to mailnews.customDBHeaders, restarting, and then repairing a folder did not work for me. I am on build 128.7.1esr (64-bit).

For example, I emailed a message to myself, selected to send later, waited a few minutes, then released it from the Outbox. When the email came in, it showed "2/23/2025, 11:27 AM" for both the "Date" and the "Received" columns. If I view the email source (some data removed for clarity) I see:

From above, the "Date:" header has "Sun, 23 Feb 2025 11:27:45 -0500" which is correctly displayed in the Date column as "2/23/2025, 11:27 AM" however, the latest "Received:" header has "Sun, 23 Feb 2025 16:32:18 +0000" (which is 11:32 AM Eastern) but the Received column shows the time as 11:27 AM instead of 11:32 AM.

Might anyone have a thought as to why I can't get Thunderbird to show the correct Received date/time?
