Something changed a few weeks ago (about November 30) and since then Thunderbird will not allow me access to any new emails, nor to be able to send new emails.

Instead, I get a large pop-up window which basically says "Enter credentials: Mozilla Thunderbird Email wants to access your Google Account <my email typed here> This will allow Mozilla Thunderbird Email to: Read, compose, send, and permanently delete all your email from Gmail".

I don't want anyone to permamently delete any of my emails, nor do I want anyone sending emails from my email account (etc, etc).

SO I click deny, and the pop-up goes away - that is until I try to use Thunderbird and it pops up again.

I've been using Thunderbird for many years and never had this problem before. Do the Thunderbird or Mozilla techs know anything about this and how do I fix it, or is it a new policy (which means I will no longer be using Thunderbird)?

I have searched here some time in December but nothing suggested by other users worked for me.

Thunderbird was working reliably. And then I started to get weird alerts about two of my email accounts. I'm not sure what's going on. Tech from my domain host was also confounded.

I moved my thunderbird backup to a new computer last week. I have 17 email addresses with 3 domains setup in a unified folder. Recently 2 of the emails give the same error message as soon as I start up Thunderbird. And it's not predictable as to which one it will be.

The error alert is: "Alert from account my-account@my-domain.com: i.op7reSD InvalidParameter id: i.op7reSD_CFR_1'

Can anybody help? Thanks

We were using our work e-mails in Google Workspace but we didn't use anymore. We change the server services from one to another. Now we have 2 same email in our Thunderbird desktop but one of them is for using and another one for our archive. However, archived account constantly says 'login etc.' pop up and we already did (the another account) which their password changed while server service changes.

We're using the mails smooth but old service account with old password which is online for backup in Thunderbird, old inbox constantly create trouble unfortunately and open a new tab in the browser consistent and it also tells 'validate identity'.

What can I do? I don't want to lost my old mails and check any mail if I need to also use my mail for new mails.

Hi everyone,

This is my first public forum question. So please forgive my "newbie" status. I'm trying to add a secondary email account which is from the "Microsoft" camp. Yeah! I know, but I needed an email address that hadn't been already taken.

I'm following the steps in the FAQs and doing the steps correctly and they have worked in the past. I needed to rebuild my PC again and re-setting up my Thunderbird profiles again.

The problem I'm having is that I'm getting stuck on step 4. Granting Thunderbird Account Access. Thunderbird opens up the OAuth validation window, but it's completely blank and I've waited to see if it will come good, but nothing even after leaving it open for an hour. I have included a screenshot of the offending window.

I haven't had this issue before as they just worked. Is there something I have missed this time around? Please help.

The email domain I'm trying to add is "<<email address>>@outlook.com.au" if that helps. Thunderbird finds all the correct configuration settings and tries to ask for access, but Microsoft Server isn't responding correctly I'm gathering. Is there some workaround?

I'm using Windows 11 Pro for Workstations Version 24H2 OS build 26100.2605 Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.36.0 b I'm enrolled in the Insider Program (Beta Channel).

I'm using Thunderbird 128.6.0esr (64-Bit) Stock out of the wrapper setup. I hope that helps.

PS. I have no problem adding Gmail accounts using the same method, and they all work. So not sure why Outlook.com and/or Outlook.com.au accounts don't work.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Cheers, Simon

Composing an email in html & text mode, I see a line wrap at 101 characters when I have the config setting at zero. Now, I realize the config value is for text only - but just who DOES compose in text only mode? This is on macOS 10.15 (yes, I need to upgrade my system) and T-bird 128.6.0 esr.

Elsewhere, I have SUGGESTED that T-bird PARTNER with LibreOffice to use a scaled-down Writer FOR composition to provide more robust writing tools for those of us who DO write!

Doesn't Outlook have something similar? IF so, Thunderbird isn't really competing.

Still, I'm curious about the wrap at 101 characters! It's clear that it wraps, when I re-size my composition window.

When I compose, I will at times include inline images and emojis and will use various fonts and bold/underline/italics along with enlarging some words. ALL these things work in LibreOffice Writer - why not in Thunderbird??

On January 21st 2025 I changed my Spectrum account password. Almost immediately Thunderbird could not log into the spectrum maintained "mail.twc.com" server. When I called Spectrum support I was told the old Spectrum use of separate passwords for SMTP and IMAP was changed to use the same password as the spectrum web page which is now the same for all spectrum logins, a "one password to rule them all" scheme in November 2024. I changed the passwords in Thunderbird for IMAP and SMTP, but it still will not connect. If I do an auto populate attempt, the server actually responds with the correct setting so I know I am reaching the server. After five days trying to resolve the issue with Spectrum I was told this is a know issue with Thunderbird and it is not the server but the third party application. It is bad enough they reconfigure things like this without disclosing it. It baffles me that the changes they claim were made in November 2024 only make themselves known when the service stops working nearly three months after the change and only when I changed the web site password. Anyone know how to solve this? Thank you so much in advance.

Hello everyone, TB has version 115.18.0 (64-bit) and has been installed on Linux Mint 21.3 Virginia (iMac 2005) since yesterday. So far everything has worked fine with my icloud.com account (email: ...@mac.com). Now I had to delete the ADD-ON TB-Sync, because icloud ‘is now also integrated without it’.

Email: First application-specific password - OK, email works Calendar: Second application-specific password - ‘TB cannot find an account at the address (https://caldav.icloud.com) - doesn't work anymore.

Huge Thunderbird Profile Folder (30 GB) - and I don't know why

Hello everyone, I haven't really found anything that helped me with my issue on the web, so I hope it's okay to pose my question here. So I've been using Thunderbird on … (daɗa karatu)

Hello everyone,

I haven't really found anything that helped me with my issue on the web, so I hope it's okay to pose my question here. So I've been using Thunderbird on my laptop (currently Win10) for about ten years (latest version is installed). Over time, the folder in AppData\Roaming has been growing quite a lot, until it reached about 46 GB. Since I always had enough space on my hard drive, this never concerned me. At some point, however, it started to strike me as unnormal how much data has accumulated, since while I have indeed a lot of emails saved locally (the server type is POP, my email provider deletes the emails from the server after some time, but they are saved on my computer), most of them should only amount to a few KB.

I found out, then, that the automatic compression was not activated, so I manually compressed all my folders. This helped: The Thunderbird folder shrunk from 46 to 30 GB. It's not as much as I hoped, however. Even 30 GB seems wildly exaggerated.

So does anyone have ideas what I could do to reduce it further? I have analyzed the folder structure using WizTree and can see that by far the biggest files are the inbox files (I am using several profiles at the same time, the biggest inbox amounts to almost 8 GB, then there is another one with 3 GB).

What confuses me additionally (and might be part of the problem) is that there are more subfolders in th "profiles" folder than accounts that I'm using. Could it be that Thunderbird has created redundant folders (or there has been a problem over the years causing this)? And how can I find out which folders I still need?

Thanks in advance!
